On March 20th, 2020, Nintendo released Animal Crossing New Horizon, a life simulation game that has grown over the years since its first game of the series was released in 2001 on the GameCube. Since the Animal Crossing New Horizon release, people all over have picked it up to escape the reality of 2020. Needless to say, the game came just at the right time.

Just when Animal Crossing lovers thought it couldn’t get any better, Colourpop Cosmetics, a LA based affordable yet high quality makeup brand, teamed up with Animal Crossing to create a super cute collaboration collection available now.

The collection consists of 4 pressed powder eyeshadow palettes inspired by some of the games beloved characters such as Isabelle, Tom Nook and his nephews, the Able sisters, and Blathers & Celeste. There are also two pressed powder blushes, three mini lip tint duos inspired by the different fruit trees that could grow on your island, a super shock eyeshadow (one of their most popular and top sold products) and a gold glitter gel inspired by the game’s currency, Bells.

We’ve had the pleasure of reviewing three items from the collection, the 5 Star Island eyeshadow palette, the Balloon Pop super shock shadow and the Fruit Roots mini lip tint duo.

At first sight opening the products, it was mesmerizing how cute the packaging was. The first item was the Balloon Pop super shock shadow. Upon opening the product, while the shadow was a tad broken, it was an easy fix by just patting the product back down into its container. But overall, the shadow is absolutely stunning! It has amazing shimmer and is a flattering rosy champagne shade. It could even be used as a flashy highlight for those who love a glittering glow!

The next product was the Fruit Roots mini lip duo. First things first was checking to see if the lip tints really smelled like their assigned fruits and sure enough, they did! There are two shades included, Peach Surprise (a pretty peach nude) and Orange Surprise (a reddish orange). Both colors are soft and girly; perfect for when you want a moisturizing lip with just a tough of color. If you prefer other fruity scents and shades, try the other two lip duos: Fruit Basket (red/pink shades with apple and cherry scents) and Pick of the Bunch (warm nude shades with pear and coconut scents).

Lastly was the 5 Star Island palette. When opening the palette, you’ll be happy to know it has a little mirror on the inside; who wouldn’t love that? The color scheme of the palette is to die for with its cute pink shades, pop of yellow, and not to mention in a variety of finishes. The palette consists of Isabelle (a metallic pastel yellow), Island Tune (a matte peachy pink), Island Designer (a true pink with multidimensional glitters), and Resident Rep. (a matte sparkle midtone rose with gold and hot pink pearl). But if pinks aren’t your go to, try out the other three palettes: Nook Inc. (mint green shades), Labelle of the Ball (purple shades), and What a Hoot (nude shades). One thing is for sure, this collection came just in time for Spring!
