Who Wore What
The Grammys are known for having incredible mash up performances as well as over the top fashion on the red carpet. This is the one red carpet where artists can wear almost anything and get away with it. It’s a fun event with all these celebrities enjoying and awarding other great musicians. This year was no different. Here are the fashion recaps from the Grammys along with what worked and what did not work at all.
Sam Smith arrived first, and discussed with Ryan Secret how excited he was to be nominated and that he hopes to win Best New Artist. He looked amazing in an all black suit with a white button up.
“I saw this dress on the Internet and just fell in love with it.” Always keeping it real, Rihanna showed up in a beautiful and large pink flowy dress by Giambattista Valli, While some say this was too Pepto-Bismol looking, I thought this dress was gorgeous and fun, perfect for this event.
Taylor Swift pulled off a blue/green mermaid look in an Elie Saab dress that was short in the front with a long train flowing behind her. The best part? Her pop of purple with her strappy Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
I am obsessed with Gwen Stefani and the Grammys reminded me why. Her jumpsuit look by Atelier Versace stunned the viewers as well as Gwen herself. She called it art describing how they fit it and stitched everything by hand.
Beyonce always looks amazing and for the Grammys this was no different. She showed up in a black low cut lace dress by Proenza Schouler and shoes by Balenciaga. To top it off she added some Lorraine Schwartz jewels to complete the outfit.
Katy Perry, nominated for her song “Dark Horse” showed up to the carpet in a sparkled silver Zuhair Murad dress with beads dripping down on her fringe. Add her purple hair in short curls and her nude Sophia Webster heels and we’ve got a great Grammys outfit for Ms. Perry.
With Tony Bennett on her arm, Lady Gaga stunned on the carpet in her beaded Brandon Maxwell dress. She showed off all the right parts and looked beautiful on the carpet.
Miley Cyrus showed off her skinny bod in a Alexandre Vauthier black dress and fresh faced looked. Her makeup looked barely there but it worked perfectly with her look.
Jennifer Hudson is legitimately the confident and beautiful woman that every girl should aspire to be. She showed up to the awards in a white body-conscious LWD by Tom Ford with silver heels and a short hair do. While the dress wasn’t a stand out like RiRi’s pink number, Hudson looked insanely perfect and stole the carpet for me.
Nicki Minaj is known for having body shaping outfits showing off all her body parts on the red carpet, and this was one of those nights. She arrived in a Tom Ford plunged dress with beaded fringe going down the bottom to the floor. While she looked amazing, with her hair slicked back and her makeup looking effortless, the best part was her Jacob & Co. diamonds.
Newcomer to the Grammys, Meghan Trainor arrived in a Galia Lahav black lacey dress with a sheer top and added some Simon G. jewelry to the look. She went for the old Hollywood glam look, but I say this dress is a miss.
Charli XCX wore an all white suit with a pink bowtie and fur.
Mrs. West arrived with her man in hand n a gold Jean Paul Gaultier dress, beaded from top to bottom and extremely low cut, showing off her assets as usual. While the dress was Pretty , there was something off about the look that made me question the dress.
Iggy Azalea’s dress by Giorgio Armani was beyond amazing, I want this dress for myself, but her hair totally threw me off. The beautiful electric blue silk gown was cut in all the right places, but her hair in that bird’s nest type do was just not right for this event. But other than the hair, she was flawless.
