The Fast and the Furious films are beloved by tons of fans. Although this writer wasn’t too impressed with the first film, he has to admit the last few were pretty good. When it was announced a spin off titled Hobbs and Shaw was coming out he had a hunch it would be awful. Yet most people seemed to enjoy it. He saw this movie last night and this is what he thought of it.

You can read the plot for Hobbs and Shaw here:

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.

But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

Hobbs and Shaw gets 8.5/10. It turned to be a surprisingly fun movie. Statham and Johnson are a blast to watch together. Their timing is perfect and each one brings plenty of action mixed with a good blend of comedy. Idris Elba also does a pretty good job as the villain. This movie doesn’t take itself seriously that often, and that is what makes it so much fun to watch. It wouldn’t be that shocking if a sequel got announced for this one.
